Cookies can be helpful because they spare you from typing the same login credentials each time you access an online account, and they store various settings, for certain web sites. Unfortunately, cookies can also compromise your security and privacy, but you can remove them, without too much effort. If you want to know what cookies are stored on your computer, you can use CookieSpy. It displays all the cookies created by various browsers and it allows you to perform a series of actions, like filtering, editing and others.

The application is free and you can install it with a single click. The setup file is about half a MB, but it will download and install roughly 5 MB of data.

The cookies are listed on separate tabs, according to which browser creates them. The software supports a variety of web browsers, including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera and others. You will not find all these browsers on CookieSpy interface, if you don't have them on your computer. The software detects your installed browsers automatically and it displays only the appropriate tabs.

If you right click a cookie, you will find a few options, for copying the item, its value or name, deleting the cookie or editing its properties, on a separate window. The application allows you to edit a cookie's domain, path, name and value, change its expiration date, make it secure or set it to HTTP only. You can perform the same actions on each tab. Additionally, you can enable a search query, to find one or more cookies instantly and match your keywords to domains, paths, names and values.

Besides the aforementioned web browsers, CookieSpy supports their portable versions as well. If you install a portable edition of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or others, on a removable memory device, you can add its cookies on a new tab. All you have to do is access the last tab, on the application's interface, select a browser and specify its installation folder.

Pros

You can view all the cookies that are created and stored by various web browsers. The application allows you to copy individual items, delete them or edit their properties. CookieSpy supports a good number of web browsers as well as their portable versions.

Cons

If the editing options were presented on a toolbar, the interface would be more comfortable. With CookieSpy, you will always know what cookies are stored on your computer, regardless of which popular web browser you are using.
